Jessica Parsons

Attorney at Law-Associate

Jessica Parsons is the most amazing, brand-spanking new, up and coming attorney in the whole universe. Jessica joined the firm as a law clerk in September of 2016 and became an associate attorney upon her admission to the Illinois Bar in 2017. Jessica earned her Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University in 2017, where she graduated magna cum laude and was ranked eighth in her class.

During her third year of law school, Jessica was a student attorney for Northern Illinois University’s Health Advocacy Clinic, a program that provides free legal representation to homeless and low-income clients. Under the supervision of Professor Colleen Boraca, Jessica represented a low-income client in a Social Security Disability Claim. Jessica wrote a Memorandum to the Administrative Law Judge explaining why her client should be approved for benefits without having to wait for one to two years for an administrative hearing. Upon reading the memorandum, the judge approved the claim, and Jessica’s client was awarded nearly $25,000 in back pay.

Jessica was involved in NIU’s Lenny Mandell Moot Court Competition as a competitor, where she and her partner were finalists, received an award for Best Petitioner’s Brief and wrote the highest-ranked appellate brief overall, and as an Associate Justice for NIU’s Moot Court Society. Jessica was also the recipient of an NIU Honor’s Scholarship, the Chessick Scholarship Series Jacob Baker award, an Outstanding Woman Student Award, and a certificate in public interest law.

Prior to joining Burns, Cronauer and Brown, LLP, Jessica has worked as an extern for the Appellate Defender of the Second District Court in Elgin, an intern for Prairie State Legal Services, a Research Assistant for Professor Colleen Boraca, a law clerk for another private firm, and a judicial clerk for the Honorable Judge Edward Prochaska in Winnebago County.

Jessica is a member of the Kane County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. She lives in Elgin with her husband, their two cats, and their pet bird.
